This is a newly created role that requires industry specific senior executive leadership skills and experience in leading cost reduction and efficiency improvements across a diverse and complex manufacturing and transportation portfolio of assets, in Canada and the US.

Rapidly changing market conditions across the whole business portfolio, is driving increased pressure and focus on reducing operational and transport costs to maintain commercial viability and position the company well for future growth. In many of the markets served by the businesses, sharp downward pressures on pricing are forcing a greater organizational need to drive out waste and inefficiency and reduce operational costs.

Job Scope
• The position will report into the Co CEO of the company and will provide direct functional leadership to Vice President level executives in Engineering, Health, Safety and Environment, Continuous Improvement and Supply Chain & Logistics.
• In addition to the above, the position will have a dotted line, functional reporting responsibility with the business Vice Presidents of Operations.
• The post holder will be required to provide direct leadership and subject matter expertise to their direct reports, ensuring greater focus and attention to detail in the planning and execution of initiatives and large projects within the appropriate functional domain.
• The post holder will be required to determine and agree with the Co CEO, the strategic vision for the next 3 years in delivering cost reduction savings and operational efficiency improvements, which will provide the business with a sustainable competitive advantage in a very demanding and challenging commercial environment.
• The development and implementation of an Operational Excellence model and framework from which to deliver the results will be one of the major deliverables of this role

Skills and Experience
• Senior Level industry executive with 25+ years’ experience in ideally the Consumer Packaged Products or Food industry
• Experience of large scale cost transformation programs, ( $100’s million range)efficiency improvement programs which have had significant organizational change impacts
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with significant experience of influencing businesses in the execution of large scale organizational change projects
• International Leadership experience with Profit and Loss accountability
• Significant experience of leading operations, supply chain & logistics, sales and marketing functions at senior management levels within large, complex, international Consumer Products companies
