SAFETY MANAGER - INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENT
|

Location: Saint John, NB |

|
Reporting directly to our clients Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for working with all stakeholders in this industrial/manufacturing environment to ensure compliance to all applicable policies and regulations. You will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of site, divisional, and corporate safety programs. You will be responsible to ensure that the necessary elements are in place throughout the site to effectively manage any identified requirements and safety improvement opportunities.
Key Competencies
Displays well developed leadership and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in problem solving and incident investigation
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees, management and external stakeholders including demonstrated skills in delivering training and presentations
Working knowledge of industry best practices and applicable federal and provincial safety compliance regulations
Ability to analyse and evaluate complex regulations and systems
Ability to prepare accurate technical reports, including a good working knowledge of applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, etc.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all areas of the mill implement and maintain appropriate practices to comply with requirements and expectations
Audit areas as required and provide recommendations on required corrective actions
Design and implement training programs for regulatory and facility-based safety training
Provide all necessary safety statistics and reports
Participate in regulatory inspections and represent company standards to regulatory agencies
Manage investigations on all safety related issues and ensure correct and timely responses
Serve as key internal consultant to JHSC
Participate in divisional and corporate safety committees
Provide day to day safety support and guidance to the management team and all facility employees to maintain a safe work environment
Requirements
Bachelors Degree in a scientific field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of two years safety-related work experience
Thorough knowledge of federal and provincial safety laws and regulations
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Previous experience in a unionized, industrial setting
Holding or be eligible for a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation is a definite asset
